Pepsi is using the Xbox One to sell junk food to a whole new generation.
Video games and junk food, is there a greater combination? Microsoft have definitely worked with PepsiCo before with games such as Halo 3 and the Call of Duty series, but here they are now hoping to advertise their own console. A website shot up overnight known as Dew and Doritos, which both companies are hoping to get people excited for Microsoft’s new console.
The site is offering a chance to win the console for free, thanks to a brand new partnership with PepsiCo, owners of both Doritos and Mountain Dew. According to an official press release, PepsiCo stated they will be giving away thousands of consoles over the coming year with their website. The site has already gone live and will give people the chance to sign up and receive more details as they come.
After last year’s DoritoGate fiasco, it’s strange to see both brand embrace one another in a weird holy trinity of everything that has become synonymous with gaming stereotypes. Regardless, the website is currently running an early giveaway that will offer two winners a chance to win limited edition Mountain Dew and Doritos products that will both contain their favourite food with a black Xbox One logo.
Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, the contest is open to US residents only and there is currently no set date for the contest to begin.
