Much remains unknown about the events leading to his death, given Jobs' strong penchant for privacy for himself and his family. However, reports filtering in indicated that the likely cause of death as pancreatic cancer, which is hardly surprising given Jobs' long battle with pancreatic cancer, subsequent surgery and eventual liver transplant.  On that front, at least one report has questioned whether Job's unorthodox treatment for his pancreatic cancer actually shortened his life – though that is surely a moot issue at this stage.
