An anonymous tipper has told insideris.com that there will be a global search feature in Windows Phone 8 that makes it easier for people to pull up contacts, apps, games, etc. Essentially, the global search function is a keyword based query algorithm that eliminates things that don’t match what you desire, and retaining the choices that you may want.

The global search feature is especially appealing for mobile users, because if they have a lot of apps, documents, contacts, etc… then it would be much easier to do a search for what they want instead of having to scroll from screen to screen.  There are similar “search” functions on Android and iOS devices, but perhaps Windows Phone 8 attempting to win over future users through ease of use.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is just around the corner (June 5th-7th), and Microsoft is expected to reveal some more details regarding its Windows Phone 8.  Hopefully, they confirm the global search feature as it would be awesome if Windows Phone 8 users can pull up anything on their device from the home screen.
