The GeForce 6600 series of GPUs have been capturing the mid-range segment of the graphics chipset market with their very competitive price/performance ratio. With the advent of ATi’s X1000 series of GPUs, the foot-hold NVIDIA has established in this part of the ladder starts to get shaky. The GDDR2 6600 cards is one of the measures NVIDIA has taken to counter this new threat. We take a look at the XFX 6600 DDR2 which comes with 256MB of GDDR2 memory. This fills up the gap between the 6600 with GDDR1 and the 6600GT with GDDR3.

With the advent of ATi’s X1000 series of GPUs, the foot-hold NVIDIA has established
in this part of the ladder starts to get shaky. The GDDR2 6600 cards is one
of the measures NVIDIA has taken to counter this new threat.

We take a look at the XFX 6600 DDR2 which comes with 256MB of
GDDR2 memory. This fills up the gap between the 6600 with GDDR1 and the 6600GT
with GDDR3.

Instead of the reference core clock of 350Mhz, XFX is confident
enough to set theirs at 400Mhz core, while the Memory remains at the reference
clock speed of 400/800Mhz DDR2.
