XFX GeForce FX 5950 Ultra Review

XFX chose to embrace NVIDIA’s reference design with the 5950 Ultra,
the card using NVIDIA’s traditional green colored PCB and reference heatsink

On the back of the card we see the heat spreader designed to keep
the card’s memory cool as it is clocked at a speedy 425Mhz, a frequency that
requires extra cooling to run reliably.

And as usual we see the four pin molex power connector attached
to the back of the card’s PCB, ensuring the XFX GeForce FX 5950 Ultra has the
extra power the AGP slot cannot provide.

The XFX GeForce FX 5950 Ultra is set up to run different clock
speeds in 2D and in 3D mode, which allows for quiet operation when in a 2D environment
as the card’s fan automatically slows itself down. Even in 3d operation, the
fan is relatively quiet, although many will be displeased with the extra PCI
slot the card takes up. And as usual, the card bears the standard VGA, S-Video,
and DVI outputs.
