After paying a visit to XGI today, we have gathered some information
regarding their PCI Express cards. Volari PCIE V3, V5 and V8 will be the
upcoming PCI Express x16 cards (Bridge) from XGI but it will be in limited
quantities depending on customer demands. Volari PCIE bridge solution differs
from NVIDIA as the bridge will not be on the package but on the PCB itself. XGI
has plans to come out with native PCI Express cards at the end of the year and
will include Shader Model 3.0 support. The highest end card may have up to 12
pipelines per GPU and with the Volari Duo, the card can offer a total of 24
pipelines and definitely GDDR3 memory will be used. Also XGI plans to build the
GPU on a finer micron process from UMC possibly 90nm next year.
