A "accidental" leak from Xiaomi has confirmed the existence of a rumored Xiaomi 'Red Rice' budget smartphone.
After unconfirmed leaks of the Xiaomi 'Red Rice' spy shots, Xiaomi has indirectly confirmed the existence of the budget smartphone in the works through a list of suitable devices for its aftermarket charger, now updated to include the Xiaomi 'Red Rice' in its list.
From the list, it appears the Xiaomi 'Red Rice' will actually be called the Xiaomi Red Rice One. While it does not contain any other information about the device, previous leaks have reported that the devices will come with a 4.7-inch 720p (312ppi) display, 8MP rear camera with 2MP front camera and is powered by either a dual-core 1.2GHz Innopower LC1810 ARM Cortex-A9 CPU or a quad-core Mediatek MTK6589 with 1GB RAM and a Mali-400 GPU.
There are two things buyers may want to take note of — at 8GB, storage could be a problem (no confirmed reports yet about a microSD expansion slot) and international would-be users may find its support of TD-SCDMA and GSM a problem too.
The Xiaomi Pricing is rumored to be at a relatively affordable 799RMB (S$363), though stocks may be limited with the initial production to be limited to only 300,000 units.
