Xiaomi Mi 5c official announcement set reportedly for December 6th

The Xiaomi Mi 5s was recently launched as an upgraded version of the Chinese manufacturer’s Mi 5 flagship from earlier this year, and Xiaomi is now gearing up to launch the Mi 5c on December 6th, according to a leak from Chinese microblogging website Weibo. The Xiaomi Mi 5c will reportedly feature a design similar to the Mi 5c, but naturally come with lesser specifications that were revealed a few days ago.

The Snapdragon 821 processor on the Mi 5s is expected to be replaced by an unnamed octa-core processor – the clock speed of the chipset is said to be 2.2 GHz, which could make it the Snapdragon 820. There’s 3GB of RAM on the handset according to rumors, and 64GB of internal storage (which is a lot for a smaller variant of a flagship). The Mi 5c is said to come in 5.2-inch and 5.5-inch display sizes, and run Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with the MIUI 8 interface on top. The rear camera could be a 12-megapixel sensor while the front could be adorned by an 8-megapixel camera. The battery size of the Mi 5c is rumored to be 4,500 mAh, which would be smaller only than the 6.4-inch Mi Max’s 4,850 mAh cell.

The Mi 5s is currently exclusive to the Chinese market, and it remains to be seen if the Xiaomi Mi 5c will break away from that exclusivity. Pricing is reportedly set to start at $144 (SGD 205) in the Chinese market for the 5.2-inch model.
