Xiaomi ‘Red Rice’ could include 1.5 GHz quad-core processor

The often-rumored Xiaomi ‘Red Rice’ could be packing a powerful 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Turbo Mediatek processor and still maintain a lower price.

Rumors have been heating up for a while now for the Xiaomi smartphone that is being called Red Rice. This trend continues today with new reports that suggest that the new device could sport a powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core MT6589T Turbo Mediatek processor, and still be ready to launch with a variable reasonable price.

The report mentions that the phone will be officially announced in July and priced very modestly by expecting to be 500 Yuan (about $85) less than the current Xiaomi M2A.

Along with the new quad-core Mediatek processor the smartphone will also sport a 4.7-inch display so considering the smartphone is planned to launch at an affordable price, this should put other manufacturers on notice. What constitutes a low-cost a phone has slowly been changing for the better in recent months and fortunately it sounds like this phone will be continuing on that path.
