It’s been unusually quiet on the Xiaomi front lately, with only a couple of rumors hitting the mainstream media, but it won’t be long until the Chinese company will once again capture the headlines day in and day out.
That’s if GizChina’s sources are correct and if Xiaomi is to hold a glamorous press event on August 16 in Beijing. Assuming that’s the case, Xiaomi is tipped to unveil no less than three new devices – two smartphones and… a smart TV.
The first of the phone duo is the company’s highly anticipated next flagship, likely to be called simply the Mi3. Said device was allegedly spotted in an AnTuTu benchmark about a month ago, scoring an outrageous 84,000 points, but chances are that was nothing but a hoax.
Still, we’re very optimistic as to Mi3’s game-changing potential, since the latest word around the block is it will come with a Full HD panel (unknown size), quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 13 MP camera.
Second on the list, we have a petite individual that we’ve last heard of a couple of weeks back – the “Red Rice” phone. Unlike the Mi3, this will likely be a mid-range gadget, but one with a scandalously low price point.
Rumor has it the Red Rice will cost 999 Yuan ($160) at most while packing a dual or quad-core Mediatek CPU, 8 MP rear snapper and 720p display. Crazy bang for the buck, eh?
Last, but not least, Xiaomi could look to introduce a smart TV on August 16, probably one with an excellent quality-price ratio as well. This thing is even more mysterious than the two phones and we only know it’s supposed to be a 47-incher powered by a customized version of Android similar to the one inside the Xiaomi Box.
Shall I even say it? Okay, I will – mark August 16 in your calendars and expect to be amazed!
