XpertVision has gained quite a reputation, especially in the
Singapore IT Market, as a Graphics Card maker focused on bringing very affordable
solutions to the mass. The XpertVision 6600GTs have been selling really well
due to it’s low price. The X1600 Pro Golden from them seems to enter this same
arena of USD$ 150+ (SGD$ 250+) price point. The Golden tag behind this card is
not just for show- it differentiates normal X1600 Pro versions from this special
set from XpertVision. What’s the twist? Well the immediate difference one will
spot on this card is the cooler it uses:

Yes, that’s a Zalman GPU cooler on the card, straight out of the box. Instead
of using default coolers, XpertVision bundled its X1600 Pro Golden Cards with
a better performing Zalman heatsink fan. These cards definitely runs cooler
than the normal cards due to this factor… and the benefits should be seen
when one tries to overclock the card.

Comes factory-installed with Zalman GPU Cooler

Talk about overclocking the card, this card comes clocked higher than the
normal Core clocks of the X1600 Pro of 500MHz. This card
comes factory clocked at 575MHz. That’s 75MHz/15%
higher than reference speed. And it spots rather fast 1.4ns GDDR3
Memory on board. There are quite a few variants of cards using the same
X1600 Pro cores, and some spot DDR2 memory. So this is a pretty good pick
if we go by memory speeds. The 1.4ns rating imply a rated
speed of 714MHz so we know that there is plenty of headroom
to play with here.

One of the highlight with the X1600 Pro core is it’s AVIVO ability. Catalyst
5.13 implemented H.264 decode acceleration, featuring GPU-accelerated video
transcoding by using the GPU as a co-processor to accelerate floating point
calculations.
