Not many Android devices feature Samsung’s Exynos 4412 quad-core chip, much less a set-top box. So Android enthusiasts should get a bit of a kick out of the YW9300—a set-top box that features the very same chip that’s in one of the Samsung Galaxy S III variants.
Despite its relatively cheap price tag of just $120, the YW9300 set-top box sports a chip that is worthy of attention. Samsung’s past flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S III, also sported the Exynos 4412, which makes the YW9300 all the more attractive in the eyes of Android enthusiasts.
Ebay is flooded with cheap Android set-top boxes, but not many can compare to the YW9300 in term of specs. The YW9300 comes in two models, with the base model to have 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Whereas, the beefier and slightly higher-priced model has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of space to play with. Both, however, will come with the Exynos 4412 quad-core, the Mali 400 GPU, Wi-Fi, HDMI, IR remote control, and 2 USB 2.0 ports. As for the Android OS version, the YW9300 comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OTB.
The current going price for the base Y9300 is $120, and the top of the line model is $142.
