ZTE Android phone with Intel mobile processor to launch 2H 2012 at US$160?
ZTE is one of the industry partners that Intel has announced at Mobile World Congress last month to enhance smartphone portfolio. And the Chinese telecommunications equipment and systems company has unveiled that their phone will be available in the second half of this year.
Today, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments have dominated the smart devices processor market, and chip giant Intel is waiting for the opportunity to penetrate this market, especially in China. Last weekend, ZTE said that in the second half 2012, it will launch Intel-based smartphone with extremely attractive price point. According to reports, ZTE's smartphone will be equipped with Intel Atom Z2000 mobile processor and runs Google Android OS. The company also mentioned that the price will be around 1000 yuan (approximately US$160). At the Mobile World Congress in February, Intel has announced partnership with Orange, Lava International, Visa and ZTE to push smart devices using Intel processors.
