The day has come when Nvidia’s Tegra 4 chipset finally sees itself in a phone which is actually being launched into the market, and will be available to consumers for purchase. The ZTE Geek U988S is the world’s first Tegra 4 Smartphone, and is coming soon to China Mobile.
Chinese manufacturer ZTE has launched the world’s first Smartphone to use Nvidia’s Tegra 4 SoC. Based on the ARM Cortex A15 architecture, OEMs has been avoiding Tegra 4 due to problems with power efficiency (and as a result, throttling, performance, heat). The phone will pack absolute best specifications shared by current generation flagship Smartphones.
ZTE U988S specifications:
- 1.8 GHz Nvidia Tegra 4 SoC
- 5-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) Display
- 2 GB RAM
- 8 MP Rear Cam, 2 MP Front Cam
While no details on the battery capacity of the phone were provided, we expect it to be quite hefty, to the tune of at least 2300 mAh (any lesser will be sad and bad news).
The ZTE Geek U988S has been launched exclusively in China (as of now) and is headed to China Mobile, as it supports the carrier’s proprietary TD-SCDMA network.
