VR-Zone has learned that Nvidia is preparing to shrink G92 process technology from 65nm to 55nm to better compete against the upcoming RV770. DigiTimes today reported that RV770 will come along by end Q2 which is about the same timeframe as the 55nm G92. Most probably, you will see RV770 based mobile parts first as notebook makers have already received RV770 samples for testing. Right now, we are able to confirm some 55nm G92 mobile parts coming up to pit against the 55nm RV770. Most likely, there are 55nm G92 for desktop parts too as Nvidia in desperate needs to lower cost and improve yield in the next couple of months ahead to stay in competition. In any case the 55nm G92 even with higher clocks can't match up against RV770, Nvidia will have to push ahead the schedule of next generation GT200. Read More >>

Sounds nice
I imagine - 9850GX2 with two Ultra sandwich 2*384bit + 2*768mb and 800/2000 core/shaders and 80-100w power consuming 55-60* stock Air running ...

Mobile chips maybe? a 55nm 9600 type card would be a pretty good card I imagine, especially if it has proper low power 2D clocks, like the newer ATI cards. Or just a minor revision.

this doesn't make any sense, why would they release a 55nm G92 if the GT200 is 65nm?

I think the reference to Digitimes "DigiTimes today reported that RV770 will come along by end Q2" is meant to go only so far as the bolded part. ie: they. Digitimes reported on the release date of the RV770 (http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20080311PD210.html), not on the shrinking of the G92 or it's release date, that part of the story is all VR-Zone.

There is nothing even posted on that site saying this at all. I already did a search and nothing comes up about this at all. How about a direct link from DigiTimes saying this.
