VR-Zone had the chance to meet up with ATi’s President & CEO, David E. Orton and he shared with the press his views on PCI Express, chipsets and the roadmap of ATi. More details inside.
During Computex 2004, VR-Zone had the chance to visit DFI’s booth in Hall 2. A total of 8 new motherboards were released. The new LANPARTY Intel boards (925X-T2, 915P-T)will feature: Socket 775 platform Karajan 8-channel audio codec High speed GbE LAN on PCI Express bus The new LANPARTY AMD board (nF3 ULTRA-D) will feature: AMD
AMD launched 4 new 64bit processors at this year’s Computex in Taipei. The processors announced were the AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 and AMD Athlon 64 processors 3800+, 3700+ and 3500+. The AMD Athlon FX-53 processor and AMD Athlon processors 3800+ and 3500+ are designed using AMD’s new 939-pin package. Enhanced Virus Protection (EVP) capability (enabled
Over at Computex, several motherboard manufacturers revealed that they are not intending to make Alderwood 925X board right now because there is an updated version of the 925XE chipset coming out in August that has the ability to support 1066Mhz bus speed of the LGA775 Prescott and most probably DDR2-667 or higher as well. Anyway
Gigabyte has demonstrated a PCI Express based ATi R423 card running at their booth over at Computex. Interestingly, it is an R423 XT card running at a core clock of 500Mhz and memory clock of 1120Mhz. There won’t be any Pro version of the R423 card like the current X800 Pro that contains 12 pipelines
An NVIDIA NV45 Ultra card was spotted at Computex today with core clock running at 350Mhz and memory clock at 1Ghz. The core clock should be higher than 350Mhz when launched and the memory used is 2ns Samsung GDDR3. The whole architecture is similar to the NV40 but it has PCI Express interface through the
Had my first run with the Innovision 6800 Ultra with Dual Cascade cooling gives me 16734 3D marks with 600 Core 1190 Memory: Will be benching some more in the next few days. More here.
We have taken a look at the first retail Radeon X800 Pro card from ATi themselves. Check out how it match up against the 9800XT and FX5950 Ultra cards and its overclocking potential as well.
Reservation acceptance of new model Athlon 64/FX will be available in Japan. The upcoming socket 939 CPU are 3500+(2.2ghz, 512k L2 cache), 3800+(2.4ghz, 512k L2 cache) and FX-53(2.4ghz,512k L2 cache). Those new CPU are all dual channel with unbuffer memory supported.
Vmod your Radeon X800 for core, memory and overcurrent.
ATI will showcase its first 0.11-micron graphics chip, the Radeon X300 (RV370) and Radeon X600 (RV380) on June 3 at Computex Taipei including the Radeon X800. The Radeon X300 chips aim at the entry-level card market with prices below US$ 100. ATi is expected to complete tape-out of its next-generation VGA chips, using a 90nm
This should be the best mod of all this season, that is, to turn an X800 Pro into an XT Platinum by enabling the remaining 4 pipelines (one quad block). So far a few guys have managed to mod it successfully but many still don’t. However, there should be a reason for ATi to lock
VIA today announced that the new VIA EPIA SP Mini-ITX mainboard featuring the VIA PadLock Hardware Security Suite and the VIA CN400 Digital Media chipset with hardware-based MPEG-4 acceleration will be on display at Computex 2004, starting next week in Taipei. Optimized for the consumer electronics market, the VIA EPIA SP is the first VIA

After IWILL DK8N, based on NVIDIA nForce3 Pro 250 chipset, has become the best AMD’s dual Opteron workstation, IWILL has worked more closely with NVIDIA in develop the next generation workstation platform. This board is based on NVIDIA’s the next generation chipset, that supports 1GHz HyperTransport for faster data transfer between CPU and memories, and
May shipments of motherboards from ASUS, ECS, Gigabyte and MSI are likely to drop 10-15% from April. The four makers collectively shipped 6.56 million motherboards in April, down 14.4% from March. With system integrators and OEM clients becoming more optimistic, motherboard shipments from the top four makers are expected to improve in Junes. Asustek’s shipments
NV45 is a native PCI Express chip but is essentially the same technology as the NV40. NV45 was sampled in February and in April was supposed to be in production and NVIDIA might introduce this chip after Computex. The memory clock is similar to GeForce Ultra 6800 at 1100Mhz but core clock should be higher.
