Vrzone.com Article: A Walk About SLS (Special Graphics Card Edition) (25-6-2005)
Leadtek Winfast PX 7800 GTX Being the first weekend of the Nvidia Geforce 7800 GTX launch, we've seen a few major brands already showing up, all thanks to Nvidia's pledge to provide worldwide immediate availability of these high end parts. For more information, performance benchmarks, and the full review done by Visionary, please click here. First of all, we caught a glimpse of Leadtek Winfast PX 7800 GTX. Found in Fuwell, and priced at a sweet S$999, it is one of the cheapest 7800 GTX you could find in Sim Lim Square. Spotting a brand new packaging, it is very different from it's predecessors. With fresh new bright yellow box that catches attention, the heatsink on the card also comes with a very cool Winfast emblem.
The bright yellow box of the Leadtek PX 7800 GTX. Very different from the older 6 series. From the box, it indicates 2 free games included, Prince of Persia, and Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory.
The card itself. PCB layout, like other brands, are very similar to the Nvidia reference card.

A back shot of this PX 7800 GTX. A splitting resemblance to the reference card.
The I/O connectors for this card. Dual DVI is a standard for all 7800 GTX. VIVO is supported for these models. XFX Geforce 7800 GTX Next, over at ATF Multimedia, we saw one the prettiest Geforce 7800 GTX in this week's Walk About. The XFX Geforce 7800 GTX comes with the best packaging, and also, the best aesthetics in terms of heatsink design. Also, being the only maker that includes a solid metal bar across the card, to prevent card warping. Found at ATF Multimedia, and priced at S$1099, this is one of the best looking cards around.
XFX's trademark "X" shapped box, that yearns for attention.
The rear of the box, with a small window that shows the very pretty heatsink design. Also, indicated here, XFX includes 3 games, namely Motor GP, X2: The Threat, and Far Cry in this 7800 GTX package.
A look at the stunning card. Being the only card that has a totally different heatsink outlook different from the Nvidia reference card, XFX had done a very fantastic job.
The back of the card. Very similar to the NVIDIA reference card, also.
The I/O connectors. As usual, Dual DVI, and a standard VIVO connector.
XFX is the only brand that comes with this anti warp bar. Great for users who intend to mount heavy duty coolers! Gigabyte Geforce 7800 GTX Next, we found the Gigabyte GV-NX78X256V-B. Having an extremely large box, it would definitely catch the eye of a 7800 GTX buyer. Being different from the rest, Gigabyte is extremely generous in their software bundle with this Geforce 7800 GTX package. Two games, Joint Operations and Xpand Rally is included, on top of the PowerDVD 6.0, and also, PowerDirector 3.0 ME, it simply has the most impressive bundle of the cards we found. Priced at S$999 over at ATF Multimedia, this card has great value!

And of course, for those who are interested, this is the exact model of this card. Powercolor X800XL 512MB PCIe Over at the ATi side of things, we found a new Powercolor X800 XL 512MB PCIe. Out fitted with double the memory for slightly faster textures, this card is made for people who need an ultimate solution that requires 512MB of video memory. Priced at S$789 in Fuwell, this is not meant for the faint hearted.
The box of this X800 XL 512. Pretty white design they have.
The card itself. From the top, it looks as if it was the regular X800XL from Powercolor...
The back of the card, that shows all the differences. Just look at the number of RAM chips!

Unlike the regular X800XL 256MB, the 512MB version requires an additional 6pin PCIe power connector.
The heatsink is secured by this very solid screws and bar, to provide that extra tightness for optimum contact. Inno3D Ultra Special Promo Over at Bell Systems, we found one of the sweetest deals ever, targeted right at the gaming crowd. Throwing a promotion on a gamer's graphics card, and giving away a free gamer's mouse, sounds like a god sent deal. MCP Computers (distributor of Inno3D graphics card), in collaboration with Bell Systems is giving away a Razer Viper mouse with every purchase of Inno3D's 6600GT and 6800 GTs, in both PCIe and AGP flavors. Also, to top it off, VR-Zone is holding a Pre-Order for their top of the line Inno3D 7800 GTX, at a mind boggling S$899 (before GST). More information and on pricing, and how to order, please visit here! Seriously, what more could you ask for?
The Inno3D 6600 GT, with the free Viper. Picture here, is the AGP version.
The 6800 GT PCIe pictured with the Razer Viper mouse. Impressive eh?
Of course, Bell Systems had also a full range of Inno3D graphics products, which could be clearly seen...
This is just 1/2 of the product ranges...
This is the rest... Ranging from the lowest end GeForce 4 MX 4000 to the highest end 6800 GT could be found over here! ASUS P5WD2-Premium Over at Fuwell, we saw one of the best boards of this current generation. The ASUS P5WD2-Premium. Featuring Intel's latest i955X chipset, supporting Dual Core Pentium D and Pentium Extreme Edition CPUs. To top it off, this board has insane overclocking ability, as demonstrated by our Overclocking star, Shamino, over here. Priced at S$448, this board is the board to go for, if you want absolute quality, together with extreme performace.
The large box of this ASUS board. Like the lower end P5LD2 we reported, this box spots similar design too.
The label present on the box, to give a brief overview of the features found on this board.
The board from top down.
The I/O connectors. Dual Gigabit LAN connectors could be found on this board. Also, like the P5LD2, it comes with an external SATA port, for external useages.
The Intel Gigabit LAN chip found on this board. This chips uses PCIe lanes for operation!
The other Gigabit LAN controller, powered by Marvell 88E8001, featuring ASUS's AI NET technology.
The famously large northbridge heatsink, that cools the Intel i955X chipset. With heatsinks of this size, they could do away fans, which could potentially add noise pollution.
Another feature that does away rotational cooling. Similar to other high end current generation ASUS board, they had this MOSFET heatsink, with fins made to capture moving air from the CPU fan, this MOSFET heatsink is a simply, innovative yet effective way to cool these MOSFETs which could run hot.
This ITE IT 8211F PATA controller, would take charge for that additional 2 PATA controllers present on this Premium board.
This Silicon Image Si 3132 SATA II controller will take charge of that external SATA port, as well as 1 more internal SATA port. Runs on PCIe too!
Seeing double? 2 full length PCIe x16 slots are available on this board. However, the black slot is only 4x electrically. SLi is still possible on such setups, with very minimal performance lost.
The ASUS Stack Cool 2 present on this board. Like the P5LD2, this iteration of the Stack Cool now covers the whole board, providing additional cooling power via ASUS's special layer of PCB. Antec P180 Case The balance of cooling and silence had been a form of art, that everyone wishes to master. However, Antec had mastered this skill, to give their latest case, the Antec P180. Found at Fuwell, and priced at $279, it is a very fine case, with that extra touch of elegance, together with technologies that would dampen and silence your case. For more information about this product, visit Antec's website here.
The Antec P180. With it's extremely clean and minimalist design, it's simply sweet.
The large front cover when opened. Double 120mm fan vents could be seen in here, for that extra cooling power, together with silence from these large low RPM fans.
A top 120mm fan is included, to expel heat from the CPU area.
The large 120mm rear fan. This fan is what Antec calls it, the Tri Cool fan, feature a 3 speed controller.
