Taiwan-based LCD monitors vendors including Acer and BenQ have raised their quotes for 17-inch LCD monitors NT$100-200 (US$3-7) since the beginning of August, according to the companies as cited in the Chinese-language Commercial Times.

Prices for 17-inch LCD monitors from Acer have increased NT$100-150 (US$3-5) this month, but the company lowered its 19-inch model prices NT$100-200 (US$3-6), the paper stated.

The paper also indicated that BenQ raised prices for its 17-inch models NT$200 (US$6) while quotes for its entry-level 19-inch models also increased NT$100 (US$3).

Both Acer and BenQ are unavailable to comment at the time of publication.

ViewSonic, will raise prices for its 17-inch models with the official announcement to be released later this month, the company said.

Earlier in July, BenQ and HannStar Entertainment, a Taiwan-based distributor for two Chi Mei LCD monitor brands (CMV and PolyView) increased prices for their 17-inch LCD monitors US$4-5.
