The third abit OC Competition in Singapore

On the 26th November 2006, abit sponsored it's third Overclocking Competition in Singapore. After a 6 month break from our previous Overclocking Competition, have the gears gone rusty? Will the previous winners get to the finishing line first again?

As we all know, a full performance monster depends on a set of top-notch equipment, just like a top race car requires a powerful engine, great tyres, etc. It was great that we had abit sponsor us their flagship abit AW9D Max based on the Intel i975x chipset, Intel sponsor us a special edition of Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 with 4MB Cache! And Elsa with their NVIDIA GeForce 7900GS for graphics, ADATA whizzing in with their Extreme Edition DDR2 1066MHz Memory, Scythe taking heat out of the equation with their Scythe Infinity Coolers, and CoolerMaster to make sure there are no power bottlenecks with their Green Power 500w Power Supplies. Of course Funan DigiLife Mall, the place you want to be at for all things IT!

Let's take a look at the 20 teams of racers then!

First we've got Red Pixy on the left and NightRaven on the right.

Then we've got Play-girl coverboy Dihudaxia and team mate Zhiwei!

Not forgetting the top scorers of our last overclocking competition, Catacomb and Shrek!

Gollum and Nexus are both seasoned overclockers... been overclocking since God knows when!

The Teams

Facade and Leader288 came very early to set up!

Ah yes, who can forget the young budding overclocking Team of XcoldStar and Rexzom?

Another young and upcoming team, ChampionLLY and XTimX!

Aha!! RMA King Eugene and Martin Chua!

IMBest says "I am Best!!" And we were so happy to have R*r all the way from Indonesia... he's jopined a dozen of competitions over there and is quite seasoned at Live Overclocking Competitions.

Elladen and BlackEvil Teams up once again on the Racing Track!

June's Open Category Champion Bellamy and Outcast back for more action!

Larry Zotter and V2G Dynamic Duo:

Attractive Prizes!

Nothing like some fun games to give out some attractive prizes!

Bellamy shouted abit the loudest apparently.

Nothing like some very very attractive prizes to spur the contestants on!

Dry Ice Overclocking and Elsa's Booth

Just after lunch, some dry ice overclocking fun at the abit booth drew a huge crowd to check out the smoke:

Let the temps drop!

And over at Elsa's booth, we see a whole range of Elsa Graphics Cards.

The Winners!!

This time round, the game rules were a little different. From 1:30PM to 5PM, the Teams could submit scores from 7 different categories- Super PI, Sisoft Sandra Memory Bench, Aquamark, PC Mark 05, 3D Mark 01, 3D Mark 03 and 3D mark 06. Points were allocated according to scores... once submitted they cannot resubmit for the same category and have to move on. By 5PM, the winning team was the one with the most points. It was a very very close fight for sure. One Team nabbed the Bonus Prize one hour into the competition... they broke the 3D Mark 06 World Record for the same category by 200 points!! Catacomb and Shrek were the lucky winners of a pair of High-Speed DDR2 ADATA Memory. Later on, another Team broke the Record again and it was Team NightRaven and Red Pixy.

\

Felt Nostalgic standing on the stage, as I was reminded of the abit overclocking competition I joined back in 2003.

Michael Tan from Convergent System shouts "abit is back!"

And the winners of the day!

The first Team to break the World Record, Catacomb and Shrek!

Maggie from abit gave out the prizes to the third Team, IMBest and R*r who scored a total fo 46 points!

Leading ahead by just 3 points at 49 points, Night Raven and Red Pixy walks away with fabulous prizes for coming in second!

And yes, the Winning Team of the day... Yantronic and Bliondi with a total of 55 points!! Their efforts have been well rewarded and the Trophy shines for them!

How lucky, back then all I had was a piece of certificate!

Finally a picture of the whole Loon Squad!

It was an extremely fun and exciting day for us overclockers... the scene is getting more and more competitive and racers are getting better with each tournament... abit Overclocking Competition comes to a wrap and we thank abit, Intel, Elsa, ADATA, Scythe, CoolerMaster and Funan DigitaLife Mall for making this competition possible! Cya guys at the next race!
