Acer, A.C.Ryan and ASUS
Acer
A.C.Ryan
Over at the A.C.Ryan booth, they have a working display of the A.C.Ryan AluBox DVR. It is a new gadget that holds a 3.5" hard disk, and you can either use it to record TV programmes (yes, TV programmes) or just use it as an external hard disk!
Asus
Over at the ASUS booth, we see ASUS' latest mini PC on display - the ASUS Nova P20 and the Nova Lite PX20. The P20 has an Intel E2160 dual-core processor, together with 1GB of memory and a 120GB SATA hard disk drive. In addition, it has built-in wireless and Bluetooth.
The PX20 runs on a slower Intel Dothan 900MHz single-core processor, retains 1GB of memory, but has a smaller 80GB SATA hard disk. There is no built-in wireless and Bluetooth on this variant.
Both units retail for $1099 and $699 respectively. Prices are only for this IT Show.
Apple and Altec Lansing
Apple
Apple showcased its latest refresh of the MacBook Pro, as well as its newly launched product, the MacBook Air.
Altec Lansing
Over at the Altec Lansing (Ban Leong) booth, we have the Orbit and Nobi on sale.
The Orbit is an ultra-portable speaker for MP3 players, and other audio devices.
The Nobi is also an ultra-portable speaker system, however, it is designed for mobile phones such as the Nokia XpressMusic phones, as it comes with an audio jack.
Axxio, Canon and Casio
Axxio
A newcomer to the laptop market, Axxio, which is a local Singapore brand, has a rather big and colourful booth aimed to draw the crowd's attention.
Canon
Unfortunately for Canon, their latest EOS 450D did not make it in time to our IT Show.
The EOS 450D has a new 12-megapixel CMOS sensor, as well as a revamped 9-point autofocus model.
However, the new Ixus 80 IS is available at the show. It is the successor to the Ixus 70 and 75.
The Ixus 80 IS has an eight-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and most importantly, Optical Image Stablisation function.
Casio
Creative, Dell, D-Link and Epson
Creative
Some new Creative products include the Gigaworks T50, and the inPerson WiFi video conferencing device. The inPerson device sports a 7-inch screen and uses H.264 video compression.
Dell
The long-awaited Dell 2408WFP 24-inch widescreen display is finally on-sale, and it comes in just on time for the IT Show.
The sale price for this show is $1299.
D-Link
Epson
Fuji Xerox, HP, i-mate and Imation
Fuji Xerox
HP
i-mate
i-mate was founded in 2001 and specialises in Windows Mobile hardware and software solutions and services. Its cutting edge, customer-centric solutions offer the latest technology and device features. As a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, i-mate provides customers with the best Windows Mobile experience.
i-mate is gaining popularity locally, and it seems like they are set to expand market share here with their newly released Ultimate 8502 and Ultimate 9502.
Imation
Nikon, Olympus, Plantronics and Sandisk
Nikon
On show is Nikon's latest entry-level DSLR, the Nikon D60. It has a 10-megapixel CCD sensor on the Nikon DX format. However, the D60 is only able to perform autofocus on Nikkor AF-S lenses, or lenses that have built-in AF motors, because of the exclusion of one on the camera body.
This means cheap but good lenses such as the Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 prime would only be able to operate on manual focus.
Olympus
This is the camera marketed as having the world's fastest autofocus system. It retails for $2669.
Plantronics
The Plantronics 855 is the latest Bluetooth headset to be released by the company. It is available now on a special pre-order price of $229. The usual price is said to be $259.
Sandisk
Be sure to check out the latest offers over at Sandisk booth! They are not to be missed!
4GB Extreme III CompactFlash cards are going for as low as $70 only!
