Brazos 2.0 has arrived, well, at least unofficially as Acer has started to sell its Aspire E1-421 in parts of Asia and it sports AMD's yet to be announced E1-1200 APU. The details are fairly slim at the moment, but the Aspire E1-421 is a budget notebook to every extent of the word.
We've already seen the new range of high-end NAS solutions from Thecus and the company is now being joined in this market space by Acer who has just announced a competing solution in the shape of its AC100 micro server. We have to say that Acer has come up with a better marketing name than Thecus, as calling this product segment for a NAS is really underselling your product.

Acer US has just confirmed in a Tweet that not only will its Iconia Tab A500 be getting an Android 4.0 update in April, but the company is also going to provide Iconia A100 users with some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness while they're at it (presumably at the same time).
Ahead of the Mobile World Congress which kicks off later this month, Acer has decided to give the world a sneak peek at its upcoming CloudMobile which just garnered an iF product design award. It's easy to forget that Acer makes a range of smartphones, although the company has managed to come up with some rather unusual devices such as the Incionia Smart S300 with its unconventional 21:9 aspect ratio.
Update: New picture added showing the display with Android 4.0
Although Intel's new mobile Atom processors were announced at the very end of last year, retail availability of netbooks based on the new processors was meant to start by mid-January, but it's taken Acer until now to get its first product out in the market. The Aspire One D270 is not as you might be forgiven to think; sporting an Atom D2700, but rather it has Intel's entry level mobile Atom N2600 under the hood.
Good news if you're looking to pick up an Ultrabook in the near future. Digitimes reports that notebook makers are expected to significantly drop pricing on their first generation ultrabooks ahead of Intel's Ivy Bridge launch early in the second quarter of the year.

Faced with increasingly tough competition from ARM-powered tablets, mediocre Q3 2011 sales (-32% YoY), and other difficulties, launch of 32 nm "Cedar Tail-M" Atom processors has so far been a troubled affair. At one point this month, there were even strong indications that the new Atom chips won't make it before Christmas. A fresh report, however, comes brings back some hope for a December 2011 launch.
Talk about a backwards world, back in the days of 4:3 screens there was rarely a problem to get a higher resolution upgrade option on notebooks, but in the age of 16:9 widescreen displays, anything below 15.6-inches is stuck at 1366x768 with a few exceptions. Now it looks like the Ultrabooks will be pushing up resolutions of smaller screens, but the reasoning behind it doesn't really make sense.
