A-DATA Demos SandForce-Based mSATA SSDs

Over at COMPUTEX, A-DATA has a rather interesting line-up of SSDs based on SandForce controllers from top to bottom. For the performance category, they have the S511 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s in capacities of 60/120/240/480GB utilizing the SandForce SF-2200 controller and Intel 25nm Compute NAND with 550/520MB read/write speeds. What is more interesting is that their mSATA and unique form factors that are used in tablets and super slim notebooks are also using SandForce based controllers.

Enermax Showcases Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Enermax has been making some pretty nice keyboards like the Acrylux and Aurora series and is now exploring mechanical keyboards. For the first time, they have showcased a very early prototype of their mechanical gaming keyboard known as the KB01X. No further specs are available except that it is fitted with MX keyswitches from Cherry. We are still quite some time away from a more final version slated for 2012 so we can expect alot of changes and designs along the way. It is good to see more makers are getting on board gamers will have more options to choose from in the near future.

Kingston has another interesting product announced today and it's a storage solution known as the Wi-Drive for Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod users. Due to the limited storage capacity of Apple's mobile gadgets, this portable storage solution certainly has its potential. It allows up to three Apple users to store, share and even stream content wirelessly through the Wi-Drive app available for download from the App Store. Wi-Drive will be available later this month in capacities of 16GB and 32GB for US$129.99 and US$174.99 respectively.

Kingston Gets Serious In SSD - Launches SandForce HyperX SSDs

Kingston is clearly getting more serious in the SSD business and unveils their first SandForce based HyperX series SSD today. These SSDs are using the SandForce SF-2281 SATA 6Gb/s controllers with Intel 25nm Compute NAND (5K Program Erase) and are available in 120GB and 240GB capacities. HyperX SSDs have a read throughput of 525MB/s and a write throughput of 480MB/s, 4KB random read/write speeds of up to 95K/70K IOPS.

MSI has shown us a rather interesting Android application for their Afterburner GPU overclocking tool. Of course, Gigabyte and ASUS have similar tool for their motherboards before but this time round, it is for graphics cards. Anyway, this app allows overclockers using Android based smartphones or tablets to overclock their graphics cards over WiFi. It allows you to monitor  frequency, temperature and voltage parameters from your smartphone and is certainly very useful while you are away with your GeForce GTX 590 left running.

Sparkle Enters Tablet Business; Unveils Calibre X-Pad

Sparkle is probably the first graphics card maker to enter the tablet business and has officially revealed their Calibre X-Pad at COMPUTEX 2011. Although, making tablets and making graphics cards are completely a different business altogether but they have a common supplier, which is, none other than NVIDIA. This 10.1-inch tablet is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor on Android Honeycomb and has a 5M rear and 2M front camera. Sparkle plans to roll the Calibre X-Pad out in the next few months so it would be interesting how this would turn out for them. One thing for sure : They gonna get very good support from NVIDIA which is clearly important for any development.

Over at COMPUTEX Taipei 2011, Acer for the first time has showcased a 10-inch MeeGo based tablet running off Intel Atom (Moorestown) platform. Acer Iconia M500 has a  resolution of 1280x800 and has a snackable UI with a widget in circle shape. This MeeGo tablet is slated for launch later this year.
