We may be a full day away from the official commencement of Computex 2011, but it would seem that many OEMs are already jumping the gun by offering members of the press the opportunity to catch a sneak peak of various unreleased products before the event's official launch, and ASUS is clearly no exception to the rule. Join us as we bring you the sneak preview of the Taiwanese OEM's new range of groundbreaking products which reportedly boast the potential to have a "lasting impact on family entertainment and mobile lifestyle". (*Updated with the complete range of products unveiled at the press conference today!)
Call us presumptuous people, but there are times where impatience may turn out to be an asset instead of a liability, and it seems that major trade fairs and exhibitions such as Computex have a knack for proving us correct about such assumptions. As it turns out, TAITRA has held a Pre-Show International Press Conference at the Taipei International Convention Centre (TICC) today, where it not only announced various key events, but also gave the media a sneak peak into some of the new products that will be making their debut in this year's Computex. Seems like good things do not only come to those who have the patience to wait it out, after all.
GeIL's subsidiary Thortech will be unveiling the crown jewel of its power supplies at Computex 2011. The Thortech Platnium Plus Series 850W power supply unit not only boasts an impressive 80 PLUS Platinum certification, it also comes with a custom-designed interactive control panel. Details after the break.

VR-Zone takes a sneak peek at the casings Silverstone has lined up for Computex 2011. Look inside for the GD07, TJ04-E and more!

GIGABYTE Technology Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards, today announced that the G1. Assassin motherboard has been awarded the prestigious ‘Best Choice’ award from Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the organizers of Computex 2011. This award builds on the recent the ‘Design and Innovation’ accolade earlier this month, reinforcing the GIGABYTE G1. Assassin’s status as the world’s best motherboard for cutting-edge PC gaming.
In case you've missed it earlier in the month, you can read VR-Zone's review on the Gigabyte G1 Assassin.
At this rate we won't have many AM3+ motherboards left to cover come Computex, as evidently close to every single board has already leaked ahead of the show. Today it's ECS' A990FXM-A that's turned up on a Thai forum and we're looking at a pretty high-end board, especially for ECS.
It's no big secret that Asus is going to be unveiling new tablets at Computex, but now the first details are starting to trickle out. Asus' Tech in Style website has put up a trio of pictures of what is said to be a new tablet that doesn't look anything like the models Asus has shown so far. The question is, is this Asus' new 3D tablet, or is it an Atom powered MeeGo device?
Only a couple of days ago ViewSonic launched its ViewPad 4 and now we have rumours about a new 7-inch tablet from the company that will allegedly go under the name ViewPad 7x. It doesn't seem to have much in common with the original ViewPad 7 beyond the size of the screen, although we're not looking at a direct replacement either as the ViewPad 7 will stick around as ViewSonic's budget tablet offering.
It looks like MSI is spending more and more resources on its mobile products and apparently we can look forward to MSI's first Android tablet at Computex, alongside an AMD Brazos powered tablet and several new notebooks. The first of MSI's new notebook products have already been announced, including the upgraded FX series, the new CR/CX640 series and the recently announced GT780, but this is apparently only the tip of the iceberg so to speak.
NVIDIA plans to launch their Desktop Optimus a.k.a Synergy at COMPUTEX Taipei this coming June and the best thing is that it is available freely and no license agreement is needed. This technology works pretty much similar to LucidLogix's Virtu where it allows dynamic swapping between iGPU and dGPU based on the application's nature and also uses Intel Sandy Bridge Quick Sync technology while doing video transcoding jobs.
