One of AMD's weakest points when it comes to adding custom features to its hardware compared to Intel has always been to get the software vendors to implement support for its hardware solutions. It looks like AMD has at least managed to make some progress in this regard, as CyberLink has announced support for AMD's upcoming Trinity APUs across the board of its top selling programs.
It's amazing that there's still a market for DVD playback software for computers these days, although as is clear by CyberLink's latest iteration of PowerDVD which has reached version 12, DVD playback is really just a minor feature these days. CyberLink should really change the name of its software, but the familiar name is most likely selling the company a lot of software, despite the fact that the software has evolved far beyond DVD playback.
We're not sure if there's a huge demand for doing video editing on tablets and smartphones, although Google is already offering its own video editing utility with Android 3.x and many a smartphone has basic video editing programs. Now CyberLink wants a slice of the Android video editing space and has announced PowerDirector Mobile which the company has been demoing at CES.
One of the major problems with the new-fangled 3D cameras, beyond the fact that you preferably need a 3D display to watch the content on, is the issue of editing the 3D video. CyberLink is now coming to the rescue of consumers with PowerDirector 10 which is the first version of its editing software that supports 3D video.
