It turned out to be a fruitful affair as new 3DMark 11 world records were being made on their new Classified range of X79 motherboard and GTX580 Graphics Card. We also snagged a preview of a pre-production overclocking mammoth Super Record X (Dual Xeon Socket 2011) motherboard.
Xeon E5 is a little late, but still expected to be the dominant high end workstation platform for 2012. What about the enthusiasts wanting to push these lovely 8-core dual-socket CPUs to the limits? We have the answers.
It's been on the backdrops at this year's Computex event, where close to every motherboard maker showed off its LGA2011 wares. It had been written off after rumors spread of attrition among some of its "key" designers. Today EVGA has risen like a phoenix from the ashes. Its latest disclosure, of the EVGA Super Record 3 (SR3) is more of a statement than anything, that EVGA is still very much the king of ultra-high end motherboards.
