

Motorola and StarHub once again had an exclusive partnership to launch the new Motorola Milestone XT in Singapore. The phone maker and the telco had done the same for the Milestone (also known as Droid in US) in late March. The Milestone XT will be available from tomorrow.
Samsung Blog South Africa has tweeted about the Galaxy Tab, a new tablet device, which will be launched in South Africa (perhaps in time with the World Cup 2010?). The Galaxy Tab claims to run Android operating system and has a 7-inch high resolution screen.
Samsung held a regional launch for their new Galaxy S Android phone, at Suntec City Exhibition Centre. And it seems that the "S" in its name could mean "Singapore", being the first country to launch the phone; or it could also stand for "SingTel", from the exclusive tie-up with the telecommunication service provider.

It seems like Google is starting to take the whole concept of user-privacy even more seriously than before, and it plans to do so by introducing encrypted search capabilities to its search engine, a feature which is conveniently absent in the offerings by most competitors. The caveat? It's still in beta status, with no definite release date announced.

In line with its 'Don't be evil' policy, Google has announced the freeing of the VP8 codec which it had obtained from its purchase of On2 Technologies for use in HTML5 video, along with the new WebM container support for Youtube. To celebrate Pac-man's 30th anniversary, Google is launching their first ever Pac-man interactive doodle on 22 May 2010. You can play the game directly on the Google doodle, until next monday (24 May 2010).
Google's new Android OS for mobile smartphones, codenamed 'Froyo' (Frozen Yogurt), is arriving. The version claims to offer additional features including mobile hotspot support. This means you can turn your mobile handset into a mobile hotspot to other Wi-Fi devices.

Apple filed a lawsuit against HTC for patent infringement in March whereby many see it as a move to get back at Google for the Android devices (indirectly). And just recently, the Taiwanese manufacturer has countersue Apple for infringement of their patents.
Looks like Google is geared up to launch its e-book store. From various news reports, the search engine giant has managed to get almost all the permission to start the store and this could make it the most dominant electronic bookseller to Amazon and Apple.
This year may well be the year of the tablet/slate. News sources have reported that Verizon Wireless and Google are collaborating to develop a Tablet, which could well be a competitor to the Apple iPad.
The new beta version of Google's Chrome web browser boasts improved speed and HTML5 features including geolocation APIs and drag-and-drop. It also comes with built-in Adobe Flash player for viewing flash content.
