Shenzhen-based Huawei has grown from a Cisco competitor to a global giant engaging in everything telecoms and IT alike, with mobile devices being one of their major focuses. Here we talk to their top phone and tablet guys, Frederic Fleurance and David Wei, on the directions forward.
The Huawei Mediapad tablet which first launched in October of last year has just been given the ability to be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich via the Huawei download center. As the 330MB update isn't available for download over the air, to update you will need to download software for your PC to be able to apply it.

Chinese Huawei is apparently none too fond of sourcing outside chips for its smartphones, as the company has announced that its latest handset – the Ascend D quad – sports a Huawei made quad core ARM based SoC. That makes Huawei – as far as we know – the second handset maker that also makes its own processors, the other being Samsung.
