It's actually quite amazing how many products Samsung makes and there's no wonder that the company is starting to have such a dominant place in the mobile market space. The company announced no less than five new products related to mobile products, a new HD CMOS sensor, a 16Megapixel CMOS sensor, faster 64GB eMMC flash memory, 3Xnm LPDDR3 memory and a new 1.5GHz Exynos SoC manufactured using a 32nm High-K Metal Gate low-power process.
Back in May last year Samsung started building its Line-16 memory fab and trial production kicked off back in June this year, followed by mass production in August and the company has now announced that the Fab has gone into full production. According to Samsung this is the world's largest memory Fab and that in itself might be impressive, but what we're more interested in is Samsung new 20nm "class" DDR3 memory and NAND flash which is being made in the Fab.
Things just got really interesting in the memory market space, as Invensas Corporation, a subsidiary of Tessera Technologies have come up with a way to shove as much memory as that fitted to a SO-DIMM into a single chip. The technology is known as xFD or multi-die face-down packaging and it'll be demonstrated at IDF San Francisco next week.
Samsung has announced the availability of its new RDIMM DRAM module for servers, which boasts a maximum capacity of 32GB and makes use of 3D-TSV technology. Well, Hynix and Toshiba has announced that the two are teaming up to develop Spin-Transfer Torque Magnetoresistance Random Access Memory or simply put, MRAM.
