Intel TwinCastle Chipset Info

Intel’s chipset code-named Twin Castle for the upcoming generation of Intel Xeon MP processor code-named Potomac will be Intel’s first chipset for multiprocessor applications as well as the company’s initial attempt to create a core-logic with separate Memory Bridge and North Bridge chips. The Twin Castle consists of three chips: TNB (North Bridge, PSB controller), XNB (Memory Bridge, connects TNB to memory channels) and ICH5 (I/O controller). One of the reasons why Intel made decision to create a chipset with separate memory and PSB controllers could be the company’s plans to develop a very flexible core-logic that could sport numerous types of processors as well as memory. The price of the Twin Castle (Kit “A”) - $ 255 for three chips.

VIA K8T800 Pro Allows PCI/AGP Fixing

A problem for tweakers of Athlon 754 CPUs is that neither chipset available for the processor - K8T800 or Nforce 3 -- allows you to set AGP and PCI speeds. VIA's K8T800 PRO will be enable you to fix AGP and PCI values. This means that your PCI and AGP devices won't be over-overclocked. This means that 939 CPUs might be good overclockers, as we saw a phase-changed, cooled Athlon FX running at more than 2800MHz from its original 2200MHz and it was still running quite cool.
