One of the biggest gripes most people have had with the Eye-Fi cards is the limited storage space on offer, as to date the company has only offered 8GB cards at the most, something that has at last put off some people from investing in the standard. Taiwanese MediaTek might be famous for creating low-cost feature phone and entry level smartphone processors, but the company also manufactures a wide range of other chips. Last year MediaTek merged with Ralink and MediaTek’s new 802.11ac/Bluetooth 4.0 combo chip has most likely been born out of that merger.
Earlier today VR-Zone attended the Intel's Storage Forum 2012 in Taipei, Taiwan and although the company didn't reveal any big news at the event, one message was very clear this year and that is that Intel is investing heavily into storage solutions. At the event Intel talked about everything from entry level "Personal Cloud" devices, to SSD's, 10Gbps Ethernet all the way to Xeon powered solutions.
Taiwanese Edimax is generally known as a company that is offering budget routers with fairly antiquated UI's, but the company is working on new 802.11ac hardware that is looking like a big step up from its current hardware. Edimax has teamed up with Broadcom for the hardware and its initial products will feature simultaneous dual band support.
