Blu-ray never really took off as far as optical drives in computers are concerned, but there are still a few companies like Pioneer who's trying to push for the format to replace the humble DVD drive. Its latest addition, the BDR-2207 adds support not only for BDXL discs, but also 3D Blu-ray content and a few Pioneer specific features.
I-O Data has extended its optical drive portfolio once again with the release of its BRP-U6C series of Portable Blu-ray XL Drives. The drives run dimensions of 140 x 147 x 19 mm (WxDxH) with a weight of about 300g.
Buffalo has just announced a new internal SATA Blu-ray writer capable of burning single-layer BD-R discs at speeds of up to 14x. The BRXL-14FBS-BK is also able to burn to BDXL discs at up to 6x.
