The Sharp Galapagos 3D smartphones were launched in Japan since last month, and the phones do not require special glasses unlike the 3D HDTVs. While Sharp smartphones are generally only available in Japan, it looks like it may come to China (and possibly other parts of the world too).

The Sharp GALAPAGOS media tablet will be on sale in Japan, and users have the option to reserve their set when it becomes available next week. At today's event at Yodobashi Camera in Akiba and Bic Camera in Yurakucho, the company showcased the media tablet which is based on Android operating system, designed to compete with the Apple iPad and Amazon Kindle.

Sharp and KDDI have jointly announced the launch of the new Android smartphone in Japan. Called IS03, the phone runs on Android 2.1 OS and features a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen that supports 960×640 resolution, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

The models - 52-inch LC-52AE6, 46-inch LC-46AE6 and 40-inch LC-40AE6 are all full HD displays with 120Hz refresh rate and a digital TV tuner. The larger two are expected to ship on May 15th, while the small fellow heads out on April 10th; as for pricing, we're hearing ¥390,000 ($4,048), ¥260,000 ($2,698) and ¥200,000 ($2,076) from largest to most diminutive.
